Happiness Charge Precure

Megumi Aino/Cure Lovely

Probably my least fave Precure leader because she doesn't have a lot going on (other than a weird love triangle with the Precure world's version of God...this poor girl is a victim) but at least her design is nice as usual, if sort of generic. The Happiness Charge girls wear a uniform with a distinct black blazer, and this makes a lot of sense for a season where being a Precure is not only fairly commonplace, but an international job with a group in every country. I really like how similar and simple the costumes are in Happiness Charge, honestly. It gives them a certain identity. They get a bunch of form changes later on, too. Megumi's cool team-coloured jacket and standout black socks are all I can really say about her, but Cure Lovely's design is nice, clean, and effective.

Hime Shirayuki/Cure Princess

I love Hime. She's got so much personality, sort of quavering between energetic and timid in a very realistic way. She's a princess from another world who (I think) basically opened Pandora's Box?? I support her. Her civilian design is fine, kind of making her look like the precursor to a water-themed cure; I like the light ballet aesthetic. Cure Princess, meanwhile, looks extra cute and combat-ready, honestly one of my favourite Precure designs. It's just satisfying to look at with those sharp shapes and the sleek baby blue, and the ends of the pigtails + her wing sleeves hint at Princess's aerial powers. And that cute little crown! My only note is that her stockings would probably look more cohesive black.

Yuko Omori/Cure Honey

I've always liked Yuko's vibes. She's just a chill, sweet girl who loves food. Her design is adorable in both forms, and I loveee her naturalistic civilian hair and dungarees. In the best way, she looks like a side character promoted to curedom. The contrast with the peppy Cure Honey is really nice: the simple flowing ponytail like melted honey and the pleasant distribution of yellow. She looks especially good in animation when she's weilding her weapon, a baton.

Iona Hikawa/Cure Fortune

Iona is kind of a harsher character; I don't really feel much towards her. Her design is fine in both forms, though Fortune's palette is pleasant. It's nice that half the Happiness Charge crew are pastels and half are kind of brighter/darker. Cure Fortune just doesn't do a lot for me. Also, looking at this art side by side, the difference in proportions is...interesting!
