Yes Precure 5/GoGo

Nozomi Yumehara/Cure Dream

Nozomi is our first in a line of pink-themed leaders--and a good starting point. She's clumsy and sweet, though the story does her a bit dirty by infamously pairing her up with a grown man who is also her teacher? What in the Cardcaptor Sakura...anyway Nozomi's design is perfect across both her original design and her sequel series redesign. All this seasons' girls share a Precure uniform with small personalised tweaks, a la Sailor Moon or Tokyo Mew Mew. The Yes 5 dress is already adorable, but the GoGo blazer ramps things up to a new level of iconic. It also subtly, cleverly helps to age the girls a year. Precure's sequel series (all...2 of them) really knew how to upgrade an outfit without removing any of its original charm. The butterfly brooch, fingerless gloves and upturned collars are some of my favourite details. Also, the visible shorts and sports-lengthed skirts make these girls look like they're ready to kick some serious ass or appear in a girly fighting game, and I love that vibe. Special shoutout to Cure Dream's donut pigtails < 3

Rin Natsuki/Cure Rouge

Nozomi's sportier friend Rin gets a cool look too. The elemental hairstyles in this season are so good, and shoutout to one of surprisingly few Precure to rock short hair when transformed. It's a flame! Not sure about the butterfly nesting there though lol.

Urara Kasugano/Cure Lemonade

Urara is a bubbly, budding singer/actress and her personality is clear with this design. In civilian form she kind of looks like a little doll, and then as Cure Lemonade she gets an extra fluffy dress and absurd corkscrew pigtails which I love so so much. Her GoGo redesign is probably the only real downgrade though, losing almost all of its unique personality, even in the hair :( I like that she at least has a two-layered skirt to stand out a bit.

Komachi Akimoto/Cure Mint

Komachi is my fav cure this season--a serene, kind girl who really wants to be a writer. Her civilian style is often kinda grandma and I mean that as the biggest compliment. Less to say about her cure form, but it's nice. The big bob is such a good hairstyle, though I think the vine-like pigtails, while cool, don't exactly work so well in GoGo. See, her coat-tails (a trait she shares with her friend Aqua, which is cute!) are the same colour, making it a bit confusing to look at. The way her headpiece loops around in her redesign, however, is amazing.

Karen Minazuki/Cure Aqua

Karen is more stern and serious than the other girls, going well with her classy rich-girl diva fits. Her cure form works in both versions. The ribbon-like waterflow of her hair is beautiful.

Kurumi Mimino/Milky Rose

MY GIRL < 3 Milk starts as a supercute lapine fairy who becomes Kurumi, who is kind of an entitled brat in the best way. The "meaner" Precure are my favourites a lot of the time because they have the most emotional range. Kurumi's civilian outfit has a slight implaceable clumsiness which I like a lot, as if she's figuring out how to dress herself now she's a human girl. I mean, she did a good job. It makes a nice contrast with the serious-looking Milky Rose, who just RADIATES power. Her design stands out a little, resembling the Yes 5 uniform a lot more than GoGo; I imagine this is intentional, to show she's emulating the cures from her own fond memories. She seems to have traits from all of them. It's so good!! Her colour palette is gorgeous omg.
